Born in Budapest, Hungary, Baloghy arrived in New Zealand in the late 1950’s as a refugee. He attended Elam School of Fine Arts and had his first solo exhibition at Barry Lett Galleries in Auckland in 1978. He has since had thirty-one solo exhibitions around New Zealand and Australia. His works are centered on urban landscape, and are described as a sharpened sense of realism.
