New Zealand artist born in 1969, Laita has Maori-Pākehā ancestry but is also of Samoan descent. She graduated from Elam School of Fine Arts and later returned there where she completed her Masters in Painting in 2002. Her works are exhibited throughout New Zealand and also internationally.
